Lambs Mark is a registered American Paint Horse Association (APHA) solid bay Breeding Stock mare with a small star. She has a very lovely way of going, a good build, an inquisitive mind, and an exciting pedigree!
Lambs Mark, or LEA, as we like to call her, is approximately 15.1 hands tall. She is 18 years old and has produced one colt who was her spitting image. She was bred only once.
She has recently completed her much appreciated role as a companion horse for an elderly gelding. Lea assisted her pasture mate in knowing when to come in from the field and when it was time to stop lingering at the gate. She would walk between little gelding and the gate to turn him around to go out into the field if he had not accompanied her in a reasonable amount of time. Her buddy passed away last year. Having been raised on the farm with other mares, and stallions nearby, as well as the occasional chicken, dog, and cat. She seems to favor the company of another horse, such as Skippy, who shared the field with her for most of her life.
Lea has been trained in her basic riding skills and ground manners. She is not in work at present, though probably could be. An injury had previously caused mild, intermittent lameness. Currently, Lea trots out sound each morning, as of August 2016. She is happy and otherwise in good condition. She has excellent feet and does well barefoot in the pastures.
Lea is half-Thoroughbred, APHA registered. Her pedigree shows lineage that goes back to Bold Ruler by Nasrullah; Princequillo; Turn-To; Count Fleet; La Troienne, who was a most influential mare and whose female descendants have also made great strides; Sunreigh; and War Admiral!
On her Paint side, she is decorated with a number of Champion Sires, Producers, and performance winners. Her sire's sire is a Grand and Reserve Halter Champion. Her sire's dam is a Grand and Reserve Halter Champion, as well as a holder of Western Pleasure points. Some of the impressive individuals included in her sire's pedigree are: Skipa Star Lad, who hails from the great Skipper W several generations back; Painted Shoshone, a Barrel Race winner; the Champion Sire, Poco Rojo; Robin Boy, a Race, Arena AAA Register of Merit Sire; Tonto Bars Gill, AAA Champion Running Horse; Jocita Bars, a leading dam of National Champions and an APHA Champ Producer; Red, a Superior Cutting Sire; and Leo San , a former leading sire by Leo. The performance capabilities within this pedigree are very VERSATILE. Lambs Mark has previously demonstrated similar versatility.
LEA is such a pretty mare with a really neat personality. We purchased Lea as a three month old filly, along with her dam, Woolmark, have raised her, and yet we still admire her daily. She's clever and attentive. She likes to explore with her mouth items that might be lying about. She has the greatest lips on her cute, square muzzle. Her hindquarters are well developed even as a maintenance horse. And she's THE BEST HORSE WE'VE EVER HAD TO DE-WORM. See the first video on our video page for proof. It is our hope that LEA may be a joy to own for someone special. Please take time to glean insight into her personality in the Keeping Company Photos, and on the Photos page.
Wings of Angels, or "Willie", a 1999 model mare, was special from day one. This mare of pleasing conformation, good ground manners, and a fine pedigree has Thoroughbred ancestry going back to Man O War three times, through War Relic twice, and War Admiral once. Nasrullah is a well-known name in Willie's pedigree, also. Her great grand-sires are: Samber, Miteas Well Laff, InReality, and Strictly Formal.
